The Science Center contains a 45-year collection of "science stuff".
The collection includes: Classroom-ready kits, suitcase exhibits, print materials that are aligned to the Needham science curriculum.
If We've Got It, We'll Loan It!
The Science Center has many raw materials. NPS staff are encouraged to preview our collection before purchasing materials on their own. Requests for materials can be made by emailing science center requests on first class.
Idea Factory Kits
Boxes filled with genuine artifacts, experiments, books, background information, and activities are available for teachers to borrow to enhance their science curriculum.
Suitcase Exhibits
Imagine an instant mini-museum in your classroom.
Our suit-case sized displays spark interest and provide information on all kinds of science topics. Simply place the suitcase on a table, flip it open, and enjoy the authentic materials inside. Most suitcases are interactive with items to try, touch, or do.
Special Items
These include high quality human skeletons, telescopes and microscopes. This cost saving measure allows us to buy one expensive item and share it with all the public schools in town.
Got Books?
We sure do! Our library covers science topics ranging from Astronomy to Zoology and everything in between. We have big books and classroom sets, field guides and how-to's, books for teachers and books for students.
Come browse our extensive collection. Many books are available to borrow. Others can be used at the Science Center for planning curriculum.
